Ride in style at all times
When you want to go places yet want to avoid pressing on the gas pedal or taking the bus. Pelago Airisto Commuter is the choice as personal urban transportation. It’s nimble, elegant and offers a comfortable upright riding position. If your city has hills and slopes, you’ll be geared up to handle it with the 8-speed internal hub gear system. In erratic climates, you’ll be grateful for the hydraulic disc brakes that are reliable to stop when you want to stop in any weather and season.
The Airisto Commuter was nominated as The Commuter Bicycle of the Year 2018 by the Finnish Cycling Federation. It’s a contemporary take on a step-through frame bicycle with an active feel. The Airisto Commuter provides everyday luxury and its geometry creates a solid, confident ride for any situation. You’ll get where you want to go swiftly and with ease.
Upright for urban zigzags
Compared to the Airisto Street and Airisto Outback, the Airisto Commuter differs with its upright riding position, internal hub gears, dynamo light and the Brooks B17 leather saddle.
Airisto Commuter comes with a Brooks B17s leather saddle and a shiny Shutter Precision PL-8 dynamo and B&M front light. The Commuter handlebar gives you the comfy riding pose for zigzagging to, from and through the city.
Front and rear lights are powered by a hub dynamo. Full aluminum fenders are light and protect you puddle splatters. Like every Pelago bicycle, the Airisto Commuter is equipped with mounting points for front and rear racks to extend the cargo capability of the vehicle.

• Frame size (1) is measured from the center of the Bottom Bracket Axis to the top of the Seat Tube (C-T).
• Rider Height suggests the average sizing for the bike-rider fit. If your height is between two sizes, choose the smaller size for more comfortable riding position.
• Stand Over Height (2) tells the height of the top tube measured from the ground. Your Inseam should always be higher than the Stand Over Height. (2)

What is the difference between the Airisto Commuter and Airisto Outback models?
The main differences lie in the choice of drivetrain, handlebar style, and riding posture on our premium chromoly (Cr-Mo) frame:
1) Airisto Commuter: Designed for daily commuting, featuring a classic, swept-back handlebar for an upright position and a low-maintenance Shimano Alfine internal hub gear.
2) Airisto Outback: Designed for light touring and gravel, equipped with a straighter Outback handlebar for an active posture and a wide-range Shimano Cues external derailleur system.
Which frame size is right for me?
The Airisto is produced in three frame sizes: S (48 cm), M (52 cm), and L (57 cm), utilizing our low-step mixte unisex frame. View our specific recommendations in the Pelago Size Guide. If your measurements land between two sizes, we recommend selecting the smaller size for a more nimble ride feel. For further support, contact our team at contact@pelagobicycles.com.
What accessories can be assembled on the Pelago Airisto models?
The Airisto is highly adaptable, featuring plenty of eyelets: Front baskets and racks (works perfectly with Commuter Front racks or Pelago Rasket), rear racks (lightweight commuter rack or a heavier Cargo rear rack). Note on chainguards: Pelago’s standard aluminium chainguard is not directly compatible with Airisto models.
What is the difference between the Pelago Airisto and the Pelago Capri?
While both models share a beautiful, low-step mixte frame shape, their frame materials, components, and intended use differ significantly:
1) Pelago Airisto (Commuter): Engineered for longer distances and heavy commuting, featuring a lighter, double-butted chromoly (Cr-Mo) steel frame, a premium Shimano Alfine 8-speed hub, hydraulic disc brakes, and dynamo lights.
2) Pelago Capri: A simpler and lighter alternative for casual city riding, built from high-tensile steel and featuring Shimano Nexus hub gears and traditional rim brakes.
Can I carry a child on the Pelago Airisto?
Yes, you can. The Airisto’s steel frame is strong an durable, making it a reliable choice for riding with kids. For a secure installation, we recommend mounting a Pelago Cargo Rear Rack to the frame. Most standard rack-mounted child seats (such as Thule Yepp or Hamax) mount perfectly and stably to this heavy-duty platform.
Can I buy a bike using an installment plan?
Yes, financing is available both online and in our physical stores. For online purchases, we offer flexible payment options via Klarna. In our Helsinki and Tampere stores, the payment method is Resurs Bank. You can read more about our payment and financing options here.
If your height falls between two sizes, we always recommend sizing down to achieve a more agile and comfortable riding position. If you are still unsure about the sizing, feel free to contact our customer service at contact@pelagobicycles.com – we are happy to help you find the perfect fit!
